Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom split because she wanted to get married and have babies and he didn’t, it is claimed.
The couple, who dated for a year, announced their split this week .
The news came as a shock as the pair put on a united front at a post-Oscars party just 48 hours before.
Sources close to the former couple say they ended their relationship because they found themselves “on different pages” - with Katy desperate to start a family .
But Orlando, who has a six-year-old son Flynn with ex-wife Australian model Miranda Kerr - was said not to be keen.“Katy and Orlando had a great time together,” said an insider.
“It was a great healing process for Orlando following his divorce from Miranda. But Katy and Orlando discovered they were on different pages.
“Katy wants children and to get married, while Orlando has been there and done that.
“At 32, Katy doesn’t want to waste any more time. It became a strain.”
Katy and Orlando first hit it off at a Golden Globe afterparty in January last year. Their relationship was said to be moving fast and rumours even surfaced that they were close to getting engaged over the summer.
