Kim Kardashian has been plotting to divorce Kanye West and fight for full custody of the children, according to reports.
New
claims have emerged that Kim has wanted a divorce for a while, and is
allegedly trying to “build a case for full custody of the kids North and
Saint”, according to American magazine Us Weekly .
The magazine says Kim definitely “wants a divorce” and knows for sure
she “doesn’t want to stay married to him” despite over two and a half
years together as husband and wife.
With the fairy tale possibly coming to an end, we take a look back at Kim and Kanye's love story.
From the first time they met, there was a spark between Kim and Kanye.
They were destined to end up together despite a series of relationships with other people that kept them apart for years
.
Neither
were superstars yet when Kim joined the R&B singer Brandy, whom she
worked for as a stylist, for a recording session of a track called Talk
about Our Love at the Record Plant Studio in Hollywood.
Curvaceous and stunningly beautiful, Kim immediately caught the eye
of Kanye, then, in early 2004, a young producer and songwriter with one
hit album to his name. He was recognised as talented but had yet to
become the enigmatic and controversial figure he is today.
Kim
made the tea. She was in a steady relationship with Brandy’s brother,
the rapper Ray J, with whom she made the notorious sex tape, so wasn’t
free to pursue Kanye even though they fancied each other. He too was in a
long standing relationship.
Kim had moved on from Ray J and had begun a relationship with the
famous American footballer, Reggie Bush. Many predicted they would marry
but this was clearly not the right time for Kim, who threw herself into
her work after Keeping Up with the Kardashians began.
She was determined that her fifteen minutes of fame would become a lifetime.
"You have to stay committed," she said.
She wanted to be a Bond girl but instead made a badly received film
called Disaster Movie which showed acting was not her forte. A stint on
Dancing with the Stars ended with an early exit from the top rated show.
These
disappointments didn’t matter, however, because they kept her in the
public eye and exposure is the key to building a brand. And while her
reality show continued to prosper so did her business empire. Kim
Kardashian was the product and she sold it relentlessly to the public.
She
endorsed shoes and cupcakes, made a fitness video and was paid more
than £6,000 for announcing on Twitter that she liked a particular salad.
As her fame grew so did the sums involved – her fee for turning up at a
club grew from £12,000 to £60,000.
She had her own line of
jewellery and watches and in 2010 realised a long held ambition by
bringing out her perfume called Kim Kardashian, the ‘voluptuous new
fragrance’
By the end of the year, she topped the list of highest earning
reality stars with earnings of $6 million (£4 million). No wonder she
could afford a £3 million villa in a quiet cul-de-sac off Mulholland
Drive in Beverly Hills with its own waterfall in the garden.
Kanye
was still around. She was the guest star in his hip-hop puppet show
pilot called Alligator Boots in 2008. The X rated show was never shown
on TV but Kim played a super sexy version of Princess Leia from Star
Wars at Kanye’s request because he observed, "Kim Kardashian’s ass is so
perfect."
He even did his best to support her efforts to become a
singer in the autumn of 2010 and was seen entering the studio in Culver
City, Los Angeles, where she was recording. The resulting single Jam
(Turn It Up) was not a success and Kim’s pop career was put firmly on
the back burner.
By this time they were both single again. Kanye had split from his
latest girlfriend, former stripper Amber Rose. She alleged that Kim had
sent explicit pictures of herself to the rapper.
When asked if it was true, Kanye replied, "I wish."
Inexplicably,
when they were both unattached, they did not seize the opportunity. Out
of the blue Kim began dating basketball player Kris Humphries. It was a
whirlwind romance and they married in Montecito in a ceremony filmed as
a two part episode for Keeping up with the Kardashians.
They were not well suited and she filed for divorce after just 72
days. Kim defended the marriage against accusations that it was a stunt
for the show: "I’m a hopeless romantic! I love with all my heart and
soul. I want a family and babies and a real life so badly that maybe I
rushed into something too soon."
By the time her acrimonious
divorce was finalised twenty months later she was expecting her first
baby with her true love, Kanye West. After her split from Kris, she had
waited for Kanye to call but she didn’t hear from him because he was so
hurt when she married someone else.
In the end she rang him up. Six weeks later they were seen in public together for the first time at a party in Beverly Hills.
She was technically still married when Kanye told the world she was
pregnant at a concert in Atlantic City in December 2012. Twelve days
after her divorce was finalised she gave birth, five weeks early, on 15
June 2013 to a baby girl called North, who they call Nori. They married
in Florence the following May and this time there were no cameras from
E! filming the occasion.
Kim didn’t slacken as a young mother and
newly married woman. She works as hard today as she did when KUWTK
started ten seasons ago. She has been up for six hours by the
timefilming begins at noon. She wakes at 6a.m., checks North’s baby
monitor by the side of the bed and then her emails on her phone.
She and Kanye will talk about their day before she pops in to her
daughter’s bedroom to say good morning. Then she is straight into her
jogging gear for a run around the trails of Hidden Hills, the gated
community in Los Angeles county where they now live, before a healthy
breakfast prepared by their chef.
She foregoes her morning
exercise if she has an early business meeting but needs to be ready for
hair and makeup in the ‘glam room’ at 10.am where it takes an hour and
half to fashion her into the Kim Kardashian the world knows.
She
has had to take it easier as she enters the latter stages of her second
pregnancy in preparation for a birth in late December. The demands of a
second child seem unlikely to slow Kim down, especially as her brand
continues to flourish and now, in effect, she has double the power
because she is married to such a famous man. She is worth £65 million, a
figure that is rising fast.
